Various schemes are being implemented in the state for the health and nutrition of women and children and their economic self-reliance. In the context of the above, it is necessary to keep the following indicators in view for the all-round development of women in the state.

 According to the National Family Health Survey 5 (2020-21), 23.0 percent women are at a level below the standard body mass index.

 According to the National Family Health Survey 5 (2020-21), the level of anemia among women aged 15 to 49 years has been reflected at 54.7 percent.

 Keeping in view the above scenario, for the economic independence of women in the state, continuous improvement in the health and nutrition level of their dependent children and to strengthen their decisive role in the family, on January 28, 2023, by the Honorable Chief Minister, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in the entire Madhya Pradesh. Announced the implementation of “Mukhya Mantri Ladli Behna Yojana” under which Rs 1000 per month would be given to women. This will be an important step in the direction of women’s health and nutrition and economic self-reliance.

 The implementation of the scheme will not only reflect the improvement in the health and nutritional status of women and children dependent on them, but women will be financially more independent than before to spend according to their priority. Women will not only develop self-employment/livelihood resources using locally available resources with the financial assistance received, but will also be able to play an effective role in their decision-making at the family level.
